Why the zone date matters
The creation date in a WHOIS record is supplied by the registrar and can be absent, redacted, or simply wrong. We diff the ICANN zone files daily, so we also know the first day the registry itself published the domain's delegation. That date cannot be edited by whoever registered it.
It only covers domains delegated since our zone capture began, so it is shown as evidence when we have it and left out when we do not. We never estimate it.
How to read this IP report
Regional Internet Registry data identifies the organization responsible for an address range and publishes its abuse contact. When enabled and available, exposure and reputation records add passive observations from independent sources. They are investigation leads, not proof that the address or its owner is malicious.
Every source has its own observation time. Missing data means the source did not return a current record; it does not mean the address is safe or unused.
