Why certificate lifespans are shortening
In April 2025 the CA/Browser Forum amended the TLS Baseline Requirements to gradually reduce the maximum lifetime of TLS certificates to just 47 days by March 2029.
This significantly increases the number of renewals required each year. Without automation, the work per certificate is expected to grow sharply by 2029, raising the risk of outages and missed renewals.
